Project Sienna

Overview

Microsoft's Project Sienna allows uses to quickly build apps with a point and click approach. Users can choose form a selection of templates or start from scratch and import data from Excel, SharePoint, Azure or social media to build and keep their apps up to date.

The idea was that this product would exist in the corporate space and allow business to quickly and easily build their own Window's apps for commercial use. Especially useful in the retail and service industries, if a user had a library of assets and an understanding of excel and with an interface similar to powerpoint an individual or a small team would be able to deliver a basic but robust app experience.

My Role

I worked as an UI artist illustrating assets and creating UI for use both in the Mircosoft Project Sienna App as well as sample apps to showcase the product

Fashion Tips With Mille McCall

Concept

Millie McCall is your own person fashion assist, get tips on the hottest trends, plan your outfits, organize your closet and shop for that perfect new piece. This consumer facing app included annotated interactive video experiences, style guides, collection builder, and favortie galleries.

The idea in this case was that a higher mid to high end clothing or department store would be able to both use a product like this in store to help people plan out their outfits but more importantly the user would be able to install the app on their home devices. This would allow the users to easily shop as they planned and dressed to complete looks.

I was tasked with creating a huge library of fashion images that would be used throughout the experience as the sample app was being built. As each piece was needed in multiple colors over the course of the project a library of literally hundreds of fashion illustrations we created.

Interior Design App

Concept

Our second app an interior design app would allow a user to see a furniture or housewares store's goods as well as entire room designs where the user could select either individual pieces, collections or entire looks to purchase. We created a series of persona rooms aimed at different sorts of clients including:

The Fremont

Young, urban, eccentric, this shabby chic room is full of character and a mix of fun probably thrifted, diy-ed and locally sourced decorations and accessories are paired with classic mid century modern looks.

The Wallingford

Clean, professional, highly designed, this ultra modern look featured clean lines and not even a throw pillow or a coaster out of place.

The Magnolia

A slightly older and more moneyed looks with a touch of class and a nautical theme, comfortable but proper at all times.

Contoso Airline Food App

Concept

The concept of the second app was going to be for a high end luxury airline, something like Emirates or Virgin. This app would allow users to order food from the provided tablet or from the screen on the seat-back in front of them.
